Identification:
A medium-sized, robust bird with dark brown plumage, a black head, and bright yellow bare skin around the eyes. The bill and legs are also yellow. In flight, it shows a distinctive white wing patch. Its confident posture and loud calls make it easily noticeable in urban environments.

Habitat:
Highly adaptable; found in urban areas, parks, farmland, gardens, and open habitats. Strongly associated with human settlements.

Status in the UAE:
Common resident and invasive species. Widely distributed in cities and towns, often dominating urban bird communities.

Diet:
Omnivorous — feeds on insects, fruits, seeds, food scraps, and small vertebrates. Highly opportunistic.

Behavior:
Very social and often seen in pairs or groups. Aggressive and territorial, especially around nesting sites. Competes with native species for food and nesting cavities. Known for loud, varied vocalizations and adaptability to human environments.

Least Concern (IUCN Red List), but considered invasive in many regions
