Identification:
A robust finch with a thick, conical bill and a relatively bulky appearance. The plumage is predominantly green, with yellow flashes on the wings and tail that are especially visible in flight. Males are brighter green, while females are duller, more greyish-green. The head is large with a strong bill adapted for seed feeding.

Habitat:
Woodlands, gardens, orchards, parks, farmland, and urban green spaces.

Status in Lebanon:
Common resident. Widespread across a variety of habitats, especially in areas with trees and shrubs.

Diet:
Granivorous — feeds mainly on seeds, buds, and occasionally insects.

Behavior:
Often seen in small flocks, especially outside the breeding season. Feeds both on the ground and in trees. Flight is undulating. Known for its nasal, drawn-out calls. Nests in trees or dense shrubs.
