Identification:
A small to medium-sized agama with a slender body and relatively long tail. The body is covered with rough, spiny (horny) scales, giving it a textured appearance. Coloration ranges from sandy beige to grey or brown, often with faint mottling that blends well with dry terrain. Males may show slightly more vivid tones during the breeding season.

Habitat:
Dry, rocky, and semi-arid environments including open hillsides, scrublands, and stony ground with sparse vegetation.

Status in Lebanon:
Native and locally present. Found mainly in drier regions, particularly in rocky and open habitats, though not among the most commonly encountered reptiles.

Diet:
Omnivorous — feeds on insects such as ants and beetles, along with other small invertebrates and occasionally plant material.

Behavior:
Diurnal and active. Often seen basking on rocks or exposed ground. Moves quickly between shelter spots. Relies on camouflage to avoid detection, but can sprint rapidly when disturbed. Males may show territorial behavior.
