Identification:
A slender, agile lizard with a long tail, well-developed limbs, and a streamlined body. Adults are typically olive-brown to greenish-brown, often with fine pale spots or narrow longitudinal markings along the back. Males become brighter during the breeding season and may develop bluish coloration on the throat and outer belly. The species is distinguished by its smooth appearance, long toes, and fast movements across rocks and vegetation.

Habitat:
Rocky hillsides, open woodlands, Mediterranean scrub, stone walls, terraced farmland, gardens, and forest edges. It is commonly found basking on rocks or low walls in sunny locations.

Status in Lebanon:
Native and widespread throughout much of the country, from coastal areas to mountainous regions wherever suitable rocky habitat is available.

Diet:
Insectivorous — feeds on ants, beetles, flies, spiders, caterpillars, grasshoppers, and other small invertebrates.

Behavior:
Diurnal and highly active, spending much of the day basking and searching for prey. It is an excellent climber and frequently moves between rocks, shrubs, and stone walls. When threatened, it escapes rapidly into crevices or dense vegetation.
