As a seasonal wadi, its pools and damp crevices after winter rains create perfect microhabitats for herping: you’ll often find Keyserling’s Wonder Gecko (Teratoscincus keyserlingii) clinging to sun-warmed boulders, Arabian Toads (Bufotes viridis) calling from temporary pools, and the occasional Hajar Saw-scaled Viper (Echis omanensis) lying in ambush under loose stones. In spring and early summer evenings, look for Sinai Agamas basking on exposed rock faces and Sand Skinks slipping through sandy patches.
