Identification:
A medium-sized bulbul with a distinctive black head and prominent white cheek patch extending behind the eye. The upperparts are warm brown while the underparts are pale grey to whitish. The undertail coverts are bright yellow, a key feature visible during flight and movement. The bill and legs are dark, and the bird has a lively, upright posture.

Habitat:
Gardens, parks, farms, urban areas, scrublands, and open woodland habitats.

Status in the UAE:
Common resident and breeder. Widely distributed across urban and natural habitats.

Diet:
Omnivorous — feeds on fruits, berries, nectar, insects, and small invertebrates.

Behavior:
Highly active and vocal. Usually seen in pairs or small groups moving through trees and shrubs. Frequently perches in exposed positions while calling. Adaptable and comfortable around human habitation. Plays an important role in seed dispersal.
