Identification:
A small, round-bodied songbird with a bright orange-red face and breast, contrasting with a greyish-brown back and whitish belly. It has a fine, pointed bill and relatively long legs. Both sexes look alike. Its upright posture and curious behavior make it easy to recognize.

Habitat:
Woodlands, gardens, parks, scrublands, and forest edges. Prefers areas with dense undergrowth and shaded cover.

Status in Lebanon:
Common winter visitor. Widely observed across forests, gardens, and rural landscapes during the colder months.

Diet:
Omnivorous — feeds mainly on insects, worms, and other invertebrates, as well as berries and seeds.

Behavior:
Bold and inquisitive, often approaching humans. Typically solitary and highly territorial, especially in winter. Frequently perches low and flicks its wings or tail. Known for its soft, melodic song, often heard even during cold days.
