European Robin / Erithacus rubecula **
The European Robin (Erithacus rubecula) is a familiar and beloved songbird often recognized by its bright orange-red breast and face, contrasted with a greyish-brown back and white belly. In Lebanon, the European Robin is primarily a winter visitor, seen in woodlands, gardens, parks, and scrubby areas. Known for its curious and bold behavior, this small bird often allows close approach, especially during the quieter months. Its melodic, fluting song is one of the most pleasant winter sounds, continuing to sing even in colder weather. Despite its delicate appearance, the robin is highly territorial and can be quite assertive, especially during feeding.
