Identification:
A large and robust gecko with a pale grey to sandy-grey coloration and faint yellowish dorsal bands. It is characterized by divided adhesive toe pads and rows of enlarged keeled tubercles across the back. Compared to many other Hemidactylus species, it has a stockier build and is highly adapted to rocky environments.

Habitat:
Rocky mountains, cliffs, wadis, boulder fields, and steep rocky slopes throughout the Hajar Mountains.

Status in the UAE:
Endemic to the Hajar Mountains of the United Arab Emirates and northern Oman. Found in the Eastern Hajar Mountains and Jebel Akhdar region, where it inhabits rocky landscapes and boulder fields.

Diet:
Insectivorous — feeds on insects, spiders, and other small arthropods.

Behavior:
A nocturnal gecko that moves swiftly across rocks and boulders while hunting. During the day it remains hidden within cracks and crevices. It is a capable climber and is frequently encountered on rocky surfaces after dark.
