Identification:
A distinctive long-headed grasshopper recognized by its elongated, cone-shaped head that projects forward beyond the eyes. The body is slender and streamlined, usually green, straw-colored, or brown depending on habitat and season. The wings are well developed and extend beyond the abdomen. Its shape provides excellent camouflage among grasses and reeds.

Habitat:
Grasslands, agricultural fields, wetlands, reedbeds, meadows, riverbanks, and open areas with tall vegetation.

Status in Lebanon:
Native and widespread in suitable habitats throughout the country.

Diet:
Herbivorous — feeds primarily on grasses, reeds, and other herbaceous plants.

Behavior:
A diurnal species that relies heavily on camouflage. When disturbed, it usually moves to the opposite side of vegetation or makes a short flight to nearby cover. Its elongated body and head allow it to blend remarkably well with grass stems. Adults are most commonly encountered during late spring, summer, and early autumn.
