The Arabian Rhinoceros Beetle (Oryctes agamemnon arabicus) is a strong, dark scarab beetle associated mainly with date palm habitats in the United Arab Emirates. It belongs to the family Scarabaeidae, and in the UAE it is known as one of the important insect pests of date palms. Adults are compact, dark brown to black beetles, often attracted to lights at night, while the larvae develop in palm material and can damage the roots and lower parts of date palms. Research from the UAE records Oryctes agamemnon arabicus as one of the main pests of date palm trees in the country.

In natural and agricultural landscapes, this beetle is most likely to be found around date palm farms, oases, gardens, and areas with old palm debris. The larvae feed and develop within palm-related material, while damage to roots and lower palm tissues can weaken trees, especially young or already stressed palms. Although it is an impressive beetle from a wildlife perspective, it is also an important agricultural species because of its close relationship with date palms, one of the most culturally and economically important trees in the UAE.
