The Temminck's Stint (Calidris temminckii) is a small, migratory wader that passes through the UAE during migration and winters in the region. Preferring shallow wetlands, mudflats, and the edges of freshwater bodies, it forages for insects, small crustaceans, and other invertebrates along the water's edge. Unlike other similar stints, it has a more deliberate feeding behavior, often seen walking slowly rather than running. It is identifiable by its pale brownish-grey plumage, short dark legs, and fine, straight bill. This species breeds in the tundra and taiga zones of northern Eurasia, migrating south to Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia for the winter.
