The Northern Wren (Troglodytes troglodytes), also simply known as the Eurasian Wren, is one of the smallest birds in Lebanon but boasts a loud and complex song that belies its tiny size. With its rounded body, short tail often held upright, and fine barring on its plumage, the wren is a secretive yet charismatic species. In Lebanon, it is typically a winter visitor or passage migrant, favoring dense undergrowth in forests, riverbanks, and rocky valleys. Despite its elusive nature, its powerful trilling song can often be heard echoing through quiet woodland areas, making it easier to detect than to spot.
