The Lesser Whitethroat (Curruca curruca) is a small migratory warbler commonly encountered during migration across the Middle East, including the UAE and Lebanon. It is recognized by its subtle appearance, featuring grey upperparts, whitish underparts, a pale throat, and a distinct dark mask around the eye. Unlike some more colorful warblers, it often relies on quiet movement within shrubs and low vegetation, where it actively searches for insects and small invertebrates. During migration, it frequents gardens, scrublands, farms, and woodland edges, occasionally feeding on berries as well. Its dry rattling song and sharp calls often reveal its presence before the bird itself is seen.
