The Citrine Wagtail (Motacilla citreola) is a graceful and striking wagtail recognized by its bright yellow plumage, especially in breeding males, which show a vivid yellow head and underparts contrasted with grey upperparts. Females and non-breeding birds are generally paler but still retain yellow tones, particularly on the face and underside. This species breeds in wetlands and marshy habitats across northern Eurasia and migrates south during winter to South Asia, the Middle East, and parts of Africa. During migration, it may be found in shallow wetlands, flooded fields, lagoons, and pond edges, where it actively forages for insects and small aquatic invertebrates. Like other wagtails, it is known for its constant tail-wagging behavior and agile movements across open ground.
