The Long-headed Grasshopper (Truxalis sp.) is a slender, grass-mimicking grasshopper with a very elongated pointed head, narrow body, and long folded wings that help it disappear among dry stems and wadi vegetation. This pale whitish individual, photographed in Wadi Al Helo, Sharjah, blends especially well with dry grasses, pale rocks, and sun-bleached plants. Its shape and colour make it easy to overlook, but once noticed, it is one of the most distinctive grasshoppers in the field. Species-level identification is kept as Truxalis sp. because several similar species occur in the UAE and clearer diagnostic details are needed for confirmation.
