The Red-throated Pipit (Anthus cervinus), known in Arabic as جَشنة حمراء الحنجرة, is a regular migrant and scarce winter visitor in the United Arab Emirates, most often seen in open grassy areas, wetland edges, farms, and other green patches during passage. It is a slim, finely built pipit with heavily streaked upperparts and underparts, a pale eyebrow, and in spring many birds show the species’ distinctive rufous-red throat and face, which make it especially attractive and easier to identify. In the UAE, it is often encountered feeding quietly on the ground, either alone or in loose groups, searching for insects and other small invertebrates. Although modest in appearance outside bright breeding plumage, it is one of the characteristic migrant pipits of the country, especially during spring passage, when numbers can become quite noticeable in suitable habitat
