The Rüppell’s Warbler (Curruca ruppeli) is a striking migratory passerine that passes through Lebanon during spring and autumn migration, with some individuals possibly breeding in suitable habitats. It favors open woodlands, scrub-covered hillsides, and Mediterranean maquis, where it often remains concealed within dense vegetation. Males are distinctive with a black head, contrasting white throat, and red eye-ring, while females are more subdued with greyish-brown tones. It feeds mainly on insects and other small invertebrates, occasionally taking berries. Despite its secretive behavior, its presence can often be detected by its sharp, rattling song during the breeding season or migration stopovers.
